Obituary for James "Duke" Tablack

James “Duke” Tablack, 77

Poland – There will be a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Struthers with Rev. Bernard Gaeta celebrating the Mass for James “Duke” Tablack who passed away peacefully Monday, March 10, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness. James was born December 23, 1936 in Youngstown, the son of George D. and Helen (Durick) Tablack. James was a graduate of Struthers High School and was a life- long resident of the Struthers area. He was employed by the Mahoning County Board of Elections for 40 years. He was a member of the church. James enjoyed dancing, horse racing and crossword puzzles. His favorite pastime in recent years has been attending his grandsons’ sporting events. They were his pride and joy and he was always there to capture their highlights on video. He leaves behind his wife, the former Loretta DePasquale, with whom he shared a wonderful 30 years, a brother, Attorney Robert E. Tablack and his wife Pearl. He will also be deeply missed by his daughters, Cheryl Trapnell, Cindy (James) Smith; sons, Joe (Lori) Genova and Scott Genova; his grandchildren, Tim (Klissa) Nolan, Amber Trapnell, J.P. and Nico Genova; and two great granddaughters, Ashlynn and Mikayla Nolan, and many other family members and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, William, George Jr. and John Tablack, June Donchess, Norma Katusic, and Ruthie. Friends may call on Thursday, March 13 from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue.
