Obituary for Virginia Ann Nard

Virginia Ann Nard, 85
Mooresville, NC – There will be a 9:30 a.m. funeral service on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Gregory Fedor celebrating the service for Mrs. Virginia Ann (Smith) Nard who passed away peacefully Friday evening March 28, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born on January 9, 1929, to the late Frank J. and Sophia (Chlud) Smith. Virginia grew up on the south side of Youngstown and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1947. She worked for the Isalys Dairy Company until her marriage. She then worked for the Collegian, a YSU sub shop, and Nard’s Pizza in Warren. Her husband, Roy F. Nard, Sr, whom she married January 10, 1948 passed away on March 26, 2001 after 53 years of marriage.
After his death, Virginia moved to Mooresville, NC and lived with her daughter’s family. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. Her family wishes to thank all the friends and neighbors for their continuous concern and kindness and especially their prayers.
She loved humor and laughter, and was an on-the-spot poet. She was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoyed Bingo and was a master of puzzles (having done over 400). But most of all she loved her family unconditionally.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, Roy F. Nard, Jr. (Diane) of Youngstown, OH, Kenneth R. Nard, Sr. of Sarasota, FL; a daughter, Dorothy Diane Sepesy (Ray) with whom she lived; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Frank W. Smith and Raymond C. Smith.
There was a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated on Tuesday, April 1 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, NC.
