Obituary for Richard G. Best

Richard G. Best, 80

YOUNGSTOWN ­ There will be a funeral service at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, in Boardman with Pastor Randy Brunko celebrating for Richard G. Best, 80, who passed away Monday morning, April 21, 2014.
Richard was born Feb. 27, 1934, in Youngstown, the son of Garfield and Edith
(Dugan) Best.
Richard worked in the trucking industry his entire life. Most recently, he was employed as the executive director of sales at Kuntzman Trucking, retiring at age 74. He was a member of the Evangel Baptist Church where he served as an usher and was involved in the church festival. Richard was a loving and caring person who enjoyed working in his garden and yard and also helping out at the monthly food pantry at the church. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.
Richard will always be lovingly remembered by his wife, the former Betty Welton, whom he married Nov. 6, 1954; four children, Terry Best of Austintown, Len (Maureen) Best of Portage, Mich., Tim (Wanda) Best of Fulton, Mich., and Janeece (Diana) Best of Pittsburgh; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Danch, and Judy Pitzo both of Boardman; two brothers, Chuck Best of Boardman, and Bob Best of Florida; his beloved dog, Kaylee; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Richey; and three brothers, Bill, Russell, and Jim Best.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
The Best Family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Andrew Marakas, Dr. Brian Voynivich, the Hospice of the Valley and nurse Emma for the kind and compassionate care shown to Richard.
Special thanks to the Evangel Baptist Church for the love and support given to Richard and the family.
