Barbara E. Safarek, 100
BOARDMAN There will be funeral services at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Columba Cathedral for Barbara E. Safarek, 100, who passed away Thursday morning, June 19.
Barbara was born March 28, 1914, in Chicago, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Novosel) Pozgay. She was a dedicated homemaker. She was happiest when she was taking care of others and baking her pastries.
Her husband, Frank Safarek, whom she married June 30, 1934, passed away May 26, 1999.
She will be remembered lovingly by her two daughters, Ann Wetzel and Margaret Ochsenhirt; her son, Lawrence Safarek with whom she made her home; four grandchildren, Richard, David, and Daniel Wetzel, and Laura Welshimer; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary Gurgos and Caroline Rigelsky, and four brothers, Michael, Martin, Frank, and Louis Pozgay.
Friends may call on Sunday, June 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
The family requests any monetary contributions be made in Barbara¹s name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
