YOUNGSTOWN ­ There will be a funeral service at 7 p.m. on Friday evening, July 18, 2014, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, with Pastor Juan Rivera, for Rafael Rodriguez Jr., 62, who passed away early Wednesday morning, July 16, 2014, peacefully at his home.
Rafael was born Aug. 13, 1951, in Salinas, Puerto Rico, the son of Rafael Sr. and Maria (Feliciano) Rodriguez.
He was employed at LTV Steel and the Youngstown Board of Education for the last 27 years. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War.
He was a fun-loving guy who was full of jokes and laughter.
He will be remembered lovingly by his mother, Maria of Cidra, Puerto Rico; his loving companion of 24 years, Virginia Viera of Youngstown; three sisters, Margaret (Luis) Rodriguez of Cidra, Puerto Rico, Gladys (Carl) DePizzo of Youngstown and Helen Rodriguez of Puerto Rico; two brothers, Reinaldo (Kathy) Rodriguez of Boardman, and William Rodriguez of Puerto Rico; five stepchildren, Kaira (Brian) Johnson, Jeffrey (Mari), Jannette (Frank), Joseph (Becky) and Marlene; 11 step-grandchildren; eight step-great-great-grandchildren; and six loving nieces and nephews, Erica Marie Rodriguez of Loveland, Reinaldo Rodriguez Jr. of Boardman, Natasha and Carl DePizzo of Youngstown; and Erick and Ricardo Gonzalez of Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rafael Sr., who passed away nine years ago to the day.
Friends may call on Friday, July 18, from 4 to 7 p.m., prior to the services at the funeral home. Rafael will be laid to rest in Puerto Rico alongside his father.
