Albert “Bertie” “Uncle Lappy” Centofanti, 95


Poland – There will be funeral services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman for Albert Centofanti, 95, who passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 29, 1918 in Hilcoke, Pennsylvania, the son of Anthony and Nellie Centofanti. Albert courageously served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He served in the 376th Infantry Regiment Company K as an ammunitions bearer. He then worked as a car inspector for forty years at Pennsylvania Railroad (CSX) before retiring in 1977. Albert was an avid fan of Indy car racing and made many trips with his three brothers and nephews to watch the races. He also loved to watch football especially his favorite quarterbacks, Dan Marino and John Elway. His greatest joy was a family gathering with loved ones and good food. “Mangia.” His wife, the former Elizabeth Hall whom he married July 8, 1955, passed away April 3, 1986. Albert will always be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, twins, Theresa Pavlich of Boardman and Alisa (Mike) DeRitis of Fountain Valley, Ca., and daughter, Charlotte (Andy) Pollard of Huntington Beach, Ca; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Anna, Amanda, Chase, Wade, Annamarie, Paul (Christy) Bartovich and Dawn (Brian) Lutz, and six great grandchildren, Tony, Kylie, Leah, Lenny, Jeremy, and Scarlett as well as his many nieces and nephews who loved him very much. Besides his parents and wife, Albert was preceded in death by three brothers, Victor, Joseph and Henry Centofanti and four sisters, Angeline Centofanti, Adeline Dilley, Yolanda Centofanti and Mary Centofanti. Friends may call on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff and care takers at Vista Care Center for the kind and compassionate care shown to Albert. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery where full Military Honors for Albert’s dedicated service to our country will be provided by the great men of V.F.W. Post 9571 of Ellsworth.
