CANFIELD – There will be funeral services at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, with the Rev. Kevin Peters celebrating the service, for Anthony Edward Kotsol Jr., 62, who passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, Sept. 5, 2014.
Anthony was born Nov. 26, 1951, in Youngstown, the son of Anthony E. Sr. and Martha (Moherman) Kotsol.
Anthony worked for Continental Emsco in Youngstown until the company became LTV Steel, and transferred to Pittsburgh, where he worked for 12 years. In 2000, he was transferred to Inside Sales and moved to Twinsburg, when the company became McJunkin Redman.
He was a 1969 graduate of Youngstown Cardinal Mooney, where he excelled in tennis. He was a 1969 Varsity Tennis Finalist with the OHSAA Region 2. Upon graduation, his tennis accomplishments earned him a scholarship with the University of South Florida, where he earned many trophies playing tennis.
Anthony enjoyed playing golf weekly with his best friends, Andy Kicos and Joe Maurro. He also enjoyed his time attending concerts, camping, dancing, trips to the beach in Ocean City and Florida, and watching his favorite football team on Sundays, the Cleveland Browns. He especially looked forward to his trips to Mountaineer and many other casinos. Anthony loved his time at Get Go in Canfield, with the Get Go Crew, playing scratch offs. He looked forward to his weekly phone calls from his best friend, Jim.
Anthony will always be lovingly remembered by his wife, Deborah (Burnside) Kotsol, whom he married Nov. 29, 1985; his two sons, Kevin Kotsol, who will always carry his dad’s spirit, and Randy (Tanize) Kotsol of Hawaii; his granddaughter, Isabella of Hawaii; two sisters, Barbara Gunter of Austintown and Betty (Jack) Stanko of Reno, Nev., who he always enjoyed spending time with at the casinos and will always be in his heart; his mother-in-law, Barbara Burnside of Struthers, who helped take care of him till the end; brother-in-law Keith (Mary Ann) Burnside and their two children, Kayla and Luca; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Janci; brother-in-law Richard Gunter; and father-in-law Robert Burnside.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
The family would like to thank Dr. Knight and the nurses at the Hope Center. A special thank you to all the nurses that took care of him to the end at the Hospice House, and to Dr. Scott Tofil, who stayed through the good and the bad. And a heartfelt thank you to all of his close friends who were there to see him. Anthony’s family will always hold a special place in their hearts for all of you.
