Josephine A. Farina, 89

BOARDMAN – There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, followed by a 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Church, with the Rev. Philip Rogers celebrating the Mass for Josephine A. Farina, 89, who passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 16, 2014.
Josephine was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Youngstown, the daughter of Stanislaw and Josephine (Zebech) Cichon.
Josephine was a homemaker and also worked briefly at Weatherbee Coat Factory. She was a member of St. Charles Church. Josephine loved to bake and cook big, Sunday meals for her family. She enjoyed crocheting and her time visiting her sons in Florida during the winter months. She was a person who believed in supporting her community by voting in favor of local levies and issues.
Josephine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the matriarch and rock of the family.
Her husband, Thomas J. Farina, whom she married Aug. 10, 1946, passed away March 25, 1988.
Josephine will always be lovingly remembered by her five sons, John T. Farina of Boardman, David S. (Johanna) Farina of Ashtabula, Thomas J. (Robin) Farina of Boardman, Joseph W. (Catherine) Farina of St. Johns, Fla., and Gerald M. (Eileen) Farina of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren, Michael (Chelsie) Farina of Cuyahoga Falls, Samuel Farina of Cuyahoga Falls, Christine (Richard) LaRocca of Orlando, Fla, Daniel (Melissa) Farina of Painesville, Kevin (Renee) Farina of Chardon, Julie (Nick) Gustin of Perry, Thomas J. III of Coppell, Texas, Jenna (Michael) Wirtz of Poland, Renee (Stefan) Dreger of Alliance, Caroline Farina of Boardman, Laura, Teresa, and Joseph Farina, all of St. Johns, Fla, Sarah Farina of Warsaw, Ind., and Kelly Farina of Murfreesboro, Tenn; 10 great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Brennen, Tyler, Thomas J. II, and Charlotte Josephine Farina, Nicholas and Adam Gustin, Henry Wirtz, Tyler Dreger, and Alexandria LaRocca; sister-in-law Loretta Cichon of Boardman; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband, Josephine was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose DePaula, Mary Hyrowski, and Stella Cook; and six brothers, Walter, Edward, Frank, Ted, Stanley, and Joseph Cichon.
Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
