Joseph L. D’Annessa, 94

Youngstown – There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, for Joseph L. D’Annessa 94, who went home to be with Our Lord on Monday, December 1, 2014. Joseph was born October 15, 1920 in Farrell, Pa., the son of Anthony D’Annessa and Maria Melone. Joseph was a veteran of the Italian Army and was a P.O.W. of the Russian Army during the war. Upon his release at the end of the war, he courageously walked back to his home, Barrea, Italy. He worked for Acorn Lumber & Supply Co. for 30 years as a woodworker and carpenter. Joseph was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and was very devoted to his faith. He was a gentle and hardworking man who loved art, playing cards with family and friends, and playing guitar in the Barrea band in Italy. His wife, the former Tommasina Quaranta whom he married on July 30, 1955, passed away on February 26, 1995. Joseph will always be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Rita A. D’Annessa; and brother, Dante D’Annessa of Rome, Italy. He was well- loved by his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ernesto, Edmond, Tom, Arnold and Eugene, and sister Lucia. Friends may call on Thursday, December 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
