Frank C. Tiberio, M.D., 88

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, in Youngstown, for Frank C. Tiberio, M.D., 88, who passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Dr. Tiberio was born March 29, 1926, in Youngstown, the son of Michael Tiberio and Lena Cestone.
He was a 1944 graduate of The Rayen School and courageously served his country in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II with the 12th armored division 43rd tank battalion. While serving in Germany, he was captured by the Germans and was liberated 10 days prior to V-E Day from a prisoner of war camp.
Dr. Tiberio graduated from Westminster College and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, specializing in Internal Medicine and Non-Invasive Cardiology. He conducted his internship and residency at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He stayed on staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital and maintained a private practice until his retirement in 2002.
Dr. Tiberio was a lover of all things Italian, especially opera. While in practice, he was well-known for cooking for his patients and the passing on of his recipes and love of Italian food. He was a member of St. Anthony Church.
His wife, the former Norma June Hall, whom he married June 12, 1954, passed away Feb. 6, 1996.
Dr. Tiberio will always be lovingly remembered by his two children, Lea Marie (Charles) Shemet, D.D.S. of Long Island, N.Y,. and Attorney Michael (Angela) Tiberio of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Nancy, Charlie and Henry; and a sister, Eleanor Pershing of Youngstown.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Nancy Tiberio, M.D.
Friends may call on Friday, Dec. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. Friends may call again on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at St. Anthony Church.
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, where full military honors for Dr. Tiberio’s dedicated service to our country will be provided by the great men of V.F.W. Post 9571 of Ellsworth.
