Anthony R. Ross Sr., 82
YOUNGSTOWN - Anthony R. Ross Sr., 82, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at Briarfield Manor.
Anthony was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Youngstown, the son of the late Antonio Martino and Anna (Schaaf) Rosciano.
Anthony was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. In 1950, he joined the Marines and served as sergeant in the Korean War. He became a skilled masonry/brick layer by trade and served in that capacity, owning his own construction company until he retired at the age of 70.
He was a member of the Italian American War Veterans Post No. 3 and served as National Commander from 1972 to 1973. He also was a Mason and member of the Masonic Temple in Salem.
He loved hunting and was an avid sports fan. He was a skilled handyman in all facets of construction and mechanics, and never said no to a friend in need.
Besides his wife, Yuriko (Teshima) born in Japan, he is survived by his children, Linda (Thomas) Fowler of Poland, Jilda Ross of Youngstown, Anthony (Lisa) Ross of Canfield and Dennis (Christy) Ross of Columbiana; eight grandchildren, Jade, Ross, Anthony, Michael, Tomi, Taylor, Laura, Patrick (Brandie) McCutcheon; great-grandchild McKenzie; his brother, Vincent “Murph” Ross of Girard.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
A private service will be held for the family. The family wishes to thank the staff at Briarfield Manor for the wonderful care they provided to Anthony.
