LIBERTY – There will be a funeral service at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, with the Rev. Msgr. John Zuraw celebrating the services, for Carrie “Cindy” Sexton Rossi, 72, who passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 27, with her children by her side.
Carrie was born April 20, 1942, in West Virginia, the daughter of John R. and Mary (Baltic) Sexton.
Carrie worked as a waitress at the Tottle House and was a clerk for Imperial Shoe Store. She was an STNA, working at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Carrington South/Pembrooke Place, Liberty and Meridian Arms. She earned her degree from the Harding Business College.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and its St. Monica’s Guild and Altar and Rosary Society. In the 1960s, she did some modeling and was named “Miss Cadillac.” She kept active, gardening, playing volleyball and bowling. She was a fan of Elvis. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing clothes for her kids, working crossword puzzles, bingo, and playing the lottery, solitaire, and mah-jongg.
Carrie was an avid sports fan, watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and all the Cleveland teams, especially the Indians. Carrie loved to prepare Sunday dinners for her family every week. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was featured in The Vindicator.
At Christmas, she would deliver her homemade kolachi and apple cakes to her many family and friends. Most importantly, Carrie was a great provider to her family. Her home was open to her family and many friends. She always took care of others before herself. She was truly a “wonderful woman.”
Her husband, Louis G. Rossi Jr., whom she married Jan. 5, 1965; passed away Oct. 17, 1999.
Carrie will always be lovingly remembered by her five children, Loucynthia M. Rossi, Ursula J. (Frank) Lellio, Anastasia G. Rossi-Craven, Justina I. (Bryan) Shields, and Mario L. Rossi; 11 grandchildren, Troy and Allison, Gianna, Marissa, Julianna, and Francesca, Douglas, Toby, and Louie, and Bryce and Erica; two stepsons, Joseph (Marcie) Rossi and children Joey and Heather, and Louis (Jody) Rossi and children Louie, Ashley, and Alexia; two sisters, Sylvia Sexton and Mary E. Sexton; two brothers, Kenneth (Lelo) Sexton and Eugene (Debbie) Sexton; her two cats, Solomon and Fury; three dogs, Roman, Spartacus “Sparky,” her little buddy, and Maestro; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her husband and parents, Carrie was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles and Robert Sexton; sister Linda Achten; brother-in-law Kenny Achten; niece Mar’ica Sexton; her two dogs, Sable and Mugsy.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m., prior to the services at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
