Vincent “Jimmy” Ross, 81


Girard – There will be funeral services at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Basilica for Vincent “Jimmy” Ross, 81, who passed away Monday, April 6, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Vincent was born December 3, 1933, in Youngstown, the son of Anthony and Anna (Schaaf) Ross. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and worked as an Assistant Crane Loader for 35 years at LTV/Republic Steel where he was known as “Lightning.” He was a member of the United Steel Workers Local 1331. Vincent was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Basilica. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. His wife, the former Sarah M. Barbato whom he married October 3, 1959, passed away July 18, 2006. Vincent will always be lovingly remembered by his 2 sons, Chris (Carol) Ross of Hubbard and Vincent A. Ross of West Virginia; daughter, Annette (Philip) Minniti of Girard; 9 grandchildren, Chris Jr., Melissa, Anthony, Vincent, Christina, Ashley, Philip Jr., Gino and Dante; 6 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Josephine (Kenny) Barbato Foltz, Mary “Couchie” (Philip) Johngrass and Patty Gragorace. Besides his parents and wife, Vincent was preceded in death by brother, Tony; sisters; brother-in-law, Robert Gragorace, and loving pets, Buster and Baby Face. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
