Evelyn Sudol, 88

NEW MIDDLETOWN – Evelyn Sudol, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 26, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Evelyn was born July 12, 1926, in New Middletown, the daughter of Teofil and Frances Woloszyn.
Evelyn was a 1944 graduate of Springfield Local High School and then from Youngstown State University in 1960 with a B.S. and M.S. in Business Education. Before beginning her teaching career, Evelyn worked as an interpreter at the International Institute. She returned to Springfield Local, where she taught for 25 years in its business education department. She retired in 1987 and always considered it a privilege to teach.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also secretary of the church, a member of the executive committee, and it’s Adoration Society. Evelyn was a member of Mahoning Retired Teachers Association, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, and the Springfield Seniors. She taught at Penn Ohio Business College in Youngstown and was the recipient of Teacher of the Year award at Springfield Local School District.
Her husband, John J. Sudol Sr., whom she married on June 22, 1946, passed away on Oct. 18, 1981.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory, her son, John (Cathy) Sudol Jr.; daughter, Carol Ann (Peter) Frank; seven grandchildren, Peter Frank Jr., Jason (Lauren) Frank, Kristen, Frank, and Julie Frank, and Austin and Rhonda Sudol; and sister, Genevieve Juricich of New Middletown.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Gertrude Surgenavic.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
A private service and burial will take place on Friday, May, 1.
Evelyn’s family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Masternick Memorial, especially her caregiver Marie, for the kind and compassionate care shown to Evelyn.
The family respectfully requests that contributions be made to Mahoning County Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund to Youngstown State University, c/o Robert Thomas, Treasurer, 3500 Harvest Run Trail, Poland, OH. 44514.
