New Middletown – There will be funeral services at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown for Armando “Tony” Centofanti, 84, who passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Armando “Tony” was born September 1, 1930, in Sulmona, Province of L'Aquila, Village of Mirane, Italy, the son of Ludovico and Rosa (DelSignore) Centofanti. He was raised on the family farm until 1953 and then came to America leaving his wife Lena behind only to join him a year later in the new country. Armando “Tony” worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube/LTV Steel retiring in 1984 after 30 years of service. In 1968, Armando “Tony” and his wife, Lena entered into the tavern business owning three taverns on South Avenue in Youngstown and then joining his son Ludovico “Vico” in one last adventure of helping out in daily operations of the Bullwinkle’s Bar and Grill until 1998 where his was best known as “Bull Moose.” He was a member of St. Dominic Church and enjoyed winemaking, gardening, canning and later fishing on the family pond. Armando “Tony” will always be remembered lovingly by three children, Ludovico “Vico” Centofanti of Austintown, Patricia (Joe) Humenick of Canfield, and Lydia (Dean) Traficant of New Middletown; four grandchildren, Serena and Joseph Humenick, and Arianna and Alexzandria Traficant; many nieces, nephews and cousins in Italy and Australia; his special nephew, Paul (Maria) Leombruni and their family; and his sister-in-law Amelia (Tulio) Leombruni of Guelph, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lena, brother, Joe, and two sisters, Maria and Yolanda. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 28 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Vincent Malkovits, Dr. Patsy Buccino and the nurses at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman for the kind and compassionate care shown to Armando “Tony.” The family would also like to say thank you to his personal caregivers, Beth and Amy. “Arrivederci Poppy, until we meet again…” Interment will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
