Henry R. Testa, 93
YOUNGSTOWN – There will be funeral services on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at 9 a.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Angela Merici Church in Youngstown, with the Rev. Kevin Peters celebrating the Mass, for Henry R. Testa, 93, who passed away Friday evening July 17, 2015.
Henry was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Campbell, the son of Ross and Laura (Flask) Testa.
He retired from Youngstown Sheet and Tube. Henry was a member of St. Angela Merici Parish, SOAR, No. 1418 Seniors, the Sunshine Seniors, and Amvets Post 13 in Deland, Fla., and was a former member of the V.F.W. in Struthers.
Henry courageously served his country as a U.S. Army Sergeant with the 119th Antiaircraft Battalion during World War II. He arrived in Normandy 11 days after D-Day and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.
His wife of 70 years, Ellen Grace (Mantini) Testa, whom he married Feb. 14, 1944, passed away Jan. 3, 2015.
Henry will always be remembered lovingly by his son, Richard (Joanne) Testa of Deland, Fla.; granddaughter Angela (Chris) Button of Monroe, Mich.; and great-granddaughter Sydney Button.
Besides his parents, Henry was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony, Louis, and Charles Testa; and a sister, Jennie Romeo.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2015, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
Henry will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, where his dedicated service to our country will be further recognized with full military honors.
