Angel R. Bonilla, 91
YOUNGSTOWN – Angel R. Bonilla, 91, slept away peacefully at home on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Maria E. (Martinez) Bonilla; his sons, Angel Jr. (Yolanda) Bonilla and Rudy Bonilla of Ohio; his daughters, Hilda Bonilla, Maria Mahinparvar, and Diva Morgan of Ohio, and Edna Bonilla of North Carolina; two sisters, Rebecca Agosto and Daniela Caban of Florida; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Julio Resto, Juan Resto, Pedro Bonilla, Gregorio Bonilla, and David Bonds; and his sisters, Ana Marchand and Octavia Molina.
Angel was born and raised in Juncos, Puerto Rico, the son of Pedro (Perucho) Resto Bonds and Tomasa (Enriqueta) Vazquez Bonilla. He was the pioneer of his family’s transition to the United States and left his beautiful island in 1950.
After many years of employment in manufacturing facilities, the last 13 years of which he was employed by General Fireproofing in Youngstown, retiring in 1977. He was a devout Christian and a member of the First Spanish Baptist Church in Youngstown. Angel will always be loved and remembered by his family and friends as a devoted man who loved his family and had a wonderful sense of humor throughout his years.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of the Valley for their excellent care and compassion.
Calling hours will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, at the First Spanish Baptist Church, 2777 Oak St. Ext. in Youngstown. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the church.
Interment will take place at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
