Obituary for Rev. Pat B. Ferraro

Rev. Pat B.  Ferraro
Rev. Pat B. Ferraro, 51, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 2, 2016. Father Ferraro was born January 12, 1965 in Lowellville, the son of Joseph and Clara (Polis) Ferraro. He attended Lowellville Public Elementary and High School. He attended Youngstown State University where he earned a bachelor of arts in political science with a minor in philosophy. He studied for the priesthood at the Athenaeum of Ohio- Mount St. Mary Seminary of the West in Cincinnati. He was ordained June 13, 1992 in the Cathedral of St. Columba by the Most Reverend James W. Malone. Following ordination, Father Ferraro served as associate pastor of St. Christine Parish Youngstown (1992-1998) and then Holy Family Parish in Poland where he also served as pro-tem administrator (1998-2001); he served as associate pastor of St. Patrick Parish in Hubbard (2001-2002). Father Ferraro’s first pastorate was St. Joan of Arc Parish in Streetsboro where he remained until his death. Father Ferraro served two 4-year terms on the Diocesan Liturgical Commission, the Vocations Director Advisory Committee, and two 3-year terms on the Presbyterial Council where he served as Chair of the Priestly Life and Ministry Committee. He is survived by two sisters, Karen (Joseph) Simko and Kathleen (Garry) Boosinger and numerous nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be held from noon until 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 8 at St. Joan of Arc Parish, 8894 State Route 14 in Streetsboro, followed by evening prayer at 7 p.m. Calling hours will be held again on Friday, September 9 from noon to 6:30 p.m., followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 7 p.m. at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Joan of Arc Capital Campaign.
