Obituary for Anthony N. Mediate

Anthony N.  Mediate
LOWELLVILLE – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville for Anthony N. Mediate, 72, who passed Thursday afternoon, Sept. 29, surrounded by his family.
Anthony was born on Oct. 3, 1943, in Hillsville, Pa., the son of Vincenzo and Rose (Feo) Mediate.
He was a 1961 graduate of Lowellville High School and earned both his Bachelor and Master Degrees from Youngstown State University.
Anthony worked at the Youngstown Public Library and Youngstown Sheet and Tube Research Center. While employed at Salem Valve, he worked part-time as the Treasurer at Lowellville Public School. He then went on to serve as full-time Treasurer for the Liberty Public School and then to Girard Schools. His career spanned into the health care industry serving as Vice President of Premier Health Plan, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Hillside Hospital and Finance Director for Medical Resources and St. Elizabeth Health System.
Anthony retired in 2000 due to a rare kidney disease and was eternally grateful to his sister Jeanne for graciously donating a kidney that enabled him to lead a normal life. Anthony then served as full-time Treasurer for 13 years with Lowellville Schools, retiring from that position in 2014. He enjoyed golfing for many years and spending time in South Carolina.
Anthony will always be remembered lovingly by his wife, Anita (Ramunno) Mediate, whom he married Aug. 17, 1963; three children, Toni Lynn (Stan) Feret, Mark (fiance Lisa Mariotti) Mediate, and Nick Mediate; five grandchildren, Cori (fiancee Conor) Pavlicko, Randy Pavlicko, Jacci (Kelly) Gebert, and Mark and Alex Mediate; two sisters, Mary (Frank) Tarantine, and Jeanne (Bob) Dovich; brother Rocco (Anna Marie) Mediate; brothers-in-law Ernie (Gen) Ramunno, Sam Ramunno, and Dennis Hynes; and numerous loving nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great-nephews. Besides his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his sisters, Antoinette “Nettie” Mediate and Nellie Lellio; and sister-in-law Carol Hynes. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. Interment will take place at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
