NILES ­ Debbie Perez, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at her son¹s residence after a long battle with cancer. She was 54.
She was born March 26, 1962, to Jose Perez and Severina Perez in Puerto Rico and moved to the area in 1970.
When Debbie was in high school she won numerous awards for track and basketball. Her little sister, Valarie was always there to cheer her on and bring her water bottles. Debbie¹s family was the center of her world. Her most treasured hobby was time spent with her family. Debbie loved to cook for her family, whether it was one of her big cookouts or her signature Spanish meals. She had a library of movies on hand that she loved to watch with any of the family members she would have in her home.
Debbie was also her son and granddaughter¹s biggest cheerleader. She was at every one of her son¹s baseball games while he was growing up and even in his adult years. She continued the tradition with her granddaughter, Aaliyah. They always knew she was on the sidelines cheering them on.
She loved to decorate her home for each holiday, whether it was Valentine¹s Day, Christmas or Halloween. Debbie also loved to shop and garage sale with her sister, Linda. They had all day outings and shopped until they dropped.
She was always finding treasures for her granddaughter. "She will be deeply missed by all of us." Debbie is lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, O¹Brian and Rebekah Wall; two grandchildren whom she adored, Aaliyah Wall and Zachary Miller; two sisters, Linda Cruz (Robert Smith) and Valarie Perez Julian (Michael Julian); two nephews, Alex and Frankie Cruz; two great-nieces, Nevaeh and Natalia Cruz; and one great-nephew, Frankie Cruz.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Severina Perez and Jose Perez.
Calling hours will be held at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 3101 DeForest Road in Warren on Monday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the funeral service being held at 1 p.m. Pastor Douglas Brown will be officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
