AUSTINTOWN - There will be a funeral service at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Angela Merici Church, 400 Lincoln Park Drive in Youngstown, with the Rev. Kevin Peters celebrating the life of Elias “Eli” Rodriquez, 60, who departed this world peacefully on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, with his family by his side.
He was born Feb. 13, 1956, in Youngstown, the son of Hiram and Carmella Rodriquez.
He attended East High School and immediately entered into the work force taking a job at Republic Steel Mill on Poland Avenue in Youngstown where he worked for 25 years.
Eli met his wife, Georgeann (Schewirey) Rodriquez, in 1973, and they married on Dec. 21, 1974.
Eli enjoyed working on and painting cars. He enjoyed dancing and cooking and was a very kind spirited person. He loved camping with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Eli leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Georgeann; his daughters, Georgeann (Mike) DiRando of Mineral Ridge and Sherri (Alan) Greathouse of Mineral Ridge; and son Luis Serrano of Austintown. He is survived by six grandchildren, Christopher, Chrysann, and Christian DiRando of Mineral Ridge, Abrianna and Alan Joseph Greathouse of Mineral Ridge, and Jordan Rodriquez of Austintown; many nieces and nephews; and his dog Murphy.
Eli also leaves behind three sisters, Maria (Raymond) Figuroa, Ruthie (William) Oracio, and Carmen Rodriquez; and three brothers, Sam (Clotilde) Rodriquez, Angel Rodriquez, and Jose (Sylvia) Rodriquez.
Eli was preceded in death by twin sons, Christopher and Timothy Rodriquez in 1978; a brother, Hiram Rodriquez; and his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary donations be made to the family through the funeral home.
