Obituary for Mary (Maria) D. Wallerick

Mary (Maria) D. Wallerick, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 16, 1932 in Bethlehem, Pa., the daughter of Saul and Emilia (Rodriguez) Hondal. She worked as a secretary for Youngstown City Hall in traffic engineering and was also a homemaker. Mary was a member of St. Columba Cathedral where she served as a eucharistic minister. She enjoyed rollerskating, ice skating, and painting. She loved flowers and the garden club. Mary will always be remembered lovingly by her husband, Emeric Wallerick of Youngstown, whom she married, April 11, 1959; and two daughters, Lisa Wallerick of Vero Beach, Fl., and Melanie (Tom) Roberts of Boardman. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Manuel Hondal. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 26 at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood Street in Youngstown. A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow with the Very Rev. Msgr. Peter M. Polando, J.C.L. celebrating the life of Mary. In lieu of flowers monetary donations may be made to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Oh. 44514. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Hospice House, especially Diane and Sally for the kind and compassionate care shown to Mary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
