Obituary for Angeline M. "Angie" Speziale

Angeline M. "Angie" Speziale
Graveside services will be held tomorrow, December 2, at 11:45 at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown for Angeline M. Speziale, 91, who passed away Friday, November 25. Angeline, also known as Angie, was born May 11, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Mary (Austrino) Ranno. She was a 1943 graduate of East High School. In her early years, she worked for MacKenzie Muffler in Youngstown. Soon after she met and married James “Jim” Speziale, who passed away in February of 2002. Jim and Angie were two peas-in-a-pod. Wherever they went they were together. Even when Jim was playing button box in the Polka band, Angie was there. Jim finally let her join the band as a bass player where she played a rope and stick on top of a kettle. Eventually, she graduated to an upright bass, which towered about 2 feet over her head. Very memorable. Angie, also known as Aunt Angie by her many nieces and nephews, was a great cook and enjoyed family holiday get-togethers, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Some of her specialties included wedding soup, stuffed artichokes, and her famous Italian meatballs. She also enjoyed reading and always encouraged youngsters to read. Angie and Jim loved dancing at Kuzman’s in Girard. They had many friends there and enjoyed their company. Angie was a lady in every manner. Very etiquette. She followed and preached respect and many admired her for that. She will be missed and remembered by many friends and relatives. Angie is survived by her brother Joseph (Dee) Ranno of Columbus, and nephews, Frank, Sam, and Doug, and nieces, Jan and Sue. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Albert Ranno and Sam Ranno, and a sister, Jean Zigmund. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
