Obituary for Ramiro Medina

There will be a funeral service at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the Good Shepherd Sta. Rosa de Lima Church in Campbell for Ramiro Medina, 92, who passed away peacefully Sunday, January 1, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 1, 1924, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, the son of Serafin Medina and Encarnacion Torres. Ramiro worked as a trackman at Republic Steel for 30 years. He was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Sta. Rosa de Lima Church and the Sons of Borinquen Club. In his spare time, Ramiro enjoyed gardening, carpentry, painting, and playing dominos and pool. His favorite time of the year was Christmas. He will always be remembered lovingly by his wife, the former Maria Ocasio-Negron whom he married October 8, 1955; seven children, Sonia Medina, Judy (Musa) Alhamid, Soraida (William) Arocho, Nancy Ortiz, Dolores (Edwin) Aberson, Lucy (Leonal) Ruano, and Michael Medina (Nalena Quendo); seven grandchildren, Damaris Tejada, Joevanny Gonzalez, Ricky Ortiz, Nicole Turner, Melinda Arocho, Ruba Alhamid, and Araceli Ruano; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eldelmira Santiago, Rosa Rivera, and Isabel Medina; and brother, Santiago Medina. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
