Frank P. "Cheech"  Gamberale
POLAND - There will be funeral services at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke Church in Boardman for Frank P. “Cheech” Gamberale, 92, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Agnone, Italy, the son of Gaetano and Margherita (DiLazzaro) Gamberale. Frank immigrated to the United States in December of 1955.
He retired from United Engineering and then went on to work for the Youngstown YMCA, where he made many friends.
He was a member of St. Luke Church and the Sons of Italy.
In his spare time, Frank enjoyed gardening, wine making, traveling with his family and attending the local Italian festivals.
His wife, the former Soccorsa Antonietta “Ninetta” Minicucci, whom he married Jan. 24, 1959, passed away on July 10, 2011.
He will always be remembered lovingly by his two children, Margherita (John) Kavulla of Poland and Frank (Mary) Gamberale of Canfield; twin granddaughters, Carina and Gianna; and sister-in-law Doria Furano; and many loving nieces and nephews, both here and in Italy.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Elvira, Antonietta, Rosina, and Angelina; and brother Giuseppe Gamberale.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Robert Spratt and his entire staff, Hospice of the Valley, and Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman for the kind and compassionate care shown to Frank.
