Obituary for Billy Lee Davis

Billy Lee Davis
Billy Lee Davis, 88, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on October 20, 2017 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family at his side. Billy was one of sixteen children born on February 2, 1929 to George and Dora (Allen) Davis in Belington, W.VA. He was raised in Belington W.VA, and proudly served in the in the U.S. Air Force, after graduating from Belington High School. He moved to Youngstown, Ohio in 1955, for better opportunities, and worked as an electrician at Hill Hubble, Mahoning Valley Sanitary District, General Electric, where he earned his retirement, and finally at Warren Consolidated Industries. He was married for 61 years to the love of his life, Barbara Joan (Smith) Davis on September 25, 1955, who passed away July 30, 2017. He was a member of Gibson Heights Church for over 50 years where he served as an Elder, loved overseeing the church grounds, and assisted with various community outreach. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and member of the Argus Lodge No. 545, and Scottish Rite. He loved life and was a proud member of the Lowellville Rod & Gun Club, where he participated in the Rifle Team, served fish fry’s, worked the grounds, and all club activities for over 50 years. He was happiest when he was spending time with his large family, participating in church activities, and spending time enjoying all of God’s creations in the woods. An avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, he enjoyed the company of numerous friends and family to celebrate holidays, reunions, and others’ life achievements. He was a pillar of strength, an unmovable man of integrity and faith, who was very loyal to God, country and helping others. Above all else he steadfastly put his family first, and his friends a close second, before even considering himself. The jewels in his Crown of Life were his grandchildren, and any other children that God brought to his attention, who may need a friend or mentor. He was never too busy to help family, friend, stranger in need, visit a shut-in, or encourage someone who was in the hospital. He will be deeply missed, and in addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 14 siblings, 3 infant children, and his son-in-law, Thomas F. Willard. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Lesa Davis Willard of Dothan, AL, Melia McKean (Eric), and Billy Ray (Loretta) Davis of Youngstown, Ohio; his grandchildren, George, Nick, Eric, Emma and Evan; a sister, Betty Jo Busing, of West Virginia, and a brother, Cecil Davis of Headland, AL, and many nieces and nephews; and his best friend and hunting buddy, Bill Romaine. Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. to noon, on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Gibson Heights Church at 755 E. Dewey Street in Youngstown. Followed by a noon service. In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made to Lowellville Rod and Gun Club, 6225 Quarry Road, Lowellville, Oh. 44436. Interment will take place at Lake Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
