Boardman – There will be a funeral service at 9:45 am on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church, for Dolores M. Scarnecchia, 85, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2014. She was born September 20, 1929 in Youngstown, the daughter of Michael and Esther (Kolar) Shimek. Dolores was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church. She enjoyed knitting, ceramics, crocheting and cooking and baking for her family. She also enjoyed taking care of her grandsons. She had a great love of animals. Dolores will always be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jack D. Scarnecchia whom she married on September 25, 1948; two children, Donna Jean (Bill) Kempe of Boardman, and Jack E. Scarnecchia of Boardman; two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Erica) Kempe of Canfield and Michael Kempe of Canfield; great-granddaughter, Olivia; sister Matilda Stipcic of North Lima; nephew, Robert Shimek of Austintown; and niece Dolores Stipcic Kachurerk of Youngstown. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Michael Shimek. Friends may call on Friday, September 26 from 5 to 8pm at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Special Care Unit of Assumption Village and Hospice for the loving care shown to Dolores.
