Kevin Peters, celebrating for Louis Bondi 91, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Louis was born March 31, 1923, in Italy, the son of Bartolo and Elizabeth (Buganza) Bondi.
Louis courageously served his country as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of a Purple Heart and an Oak Leaf Cluster. He retired from Truscon Steel (Republic Steel), with over 35 years of service. Louis was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church, now St. Angela Merici and a member of the Austintown V.F.W. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
His wife, the former Mary Klanica, whom he married Feb. 3, 1951, passed away Oct. 17, 2009.
Louis will always be lovingly remembered by his son, Robert (Priscilla) Bondi of New Castle, Pa.; daughter Mary Ann (James) Bozdog of Hubbard; and three grandchildren, Nicolette, Christy and Dr. Robert Bondi Jr.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Mario Bondi; and two sisters, Louise Como and Emma Bondi.
Friends may call on Friday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, where full military honors for Louis’s dedicated service to our country will be provided by the great men of V.F.W. Post No. 9571 of Ellsworth.
