Donald E. “Speedy” Anderson, Sr., 83


Warren – There will be a funeral service at 7 pm on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman for Donald E. Anderson, 83, who passed away November 6, 2014. Donald was born November 27, 1930 in Youngstown, the son of Andrew B. and Jessie C. (Bentfield) Anderson. Donald retired from the gear and pump division of Commercial Shearing after 37 years of service. Donald courageously served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic in the Motor Pool Division. He was a Korean War Veteran and served in Iwo Jima and a member of the Black Pearl Vets. He was a member of the United Steelworkers #2332, American Legion Post #472, and V.F.W. Post #3307 and Army and Navy Garrison #360. He loved to travel, especially taking long drives to Lake Erie. He also enjoyed working on cars, bar bingo, Nascar and football. Donald will be lovingly remembered by his wife, the former Doris Douglass whom he married, June 22, 1981; 9 children, Karen (Jim) Martin of Youngstown, Patti Anderson of Charlotte, NC, Lynn Guy of Orlando, Donald (Debbie) Anderson, Jr. of Boardman, William Anderson of Struthers, Edward Ray (Barb) Weaver of Boone, NC, Rex Ramsey (Marie) Weaver of West Jefferson, NC, John P. Weaver of Youngstown and Oneta (Harry) Urbach of Mineral Ridge; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Dolly) Anderson of California; sister Elise Jane Burke of Boardman; brother-in-law, Dale (Judy) Douglass of Minnesota, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call on Monday, November 10 from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman.
