Helen Gucwa, 89

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be funeral services Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at 12:15 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown for Helen Gucwa, 89, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015.
Helen was born Aug. 5, 1925, in Youngstown, the daughter of Felix and Veronica (Sypucinski) Kostecki.
She was a member of St. Dominic Church and its senior group. She was also a member of the senior citizens of St. Stanislaus Church and its Infant of Prague Guild.
Her husband, Thaddeus S. Gucwa, whom she married May 17, 1947, passed away Oct. 24, 2001.
Helen will always be lovingly remembered by two sons, Leonard (Clara Rose) Gucwa of Radnor, Ohio, and Paul (Eva) Gucwa of Struthers; two daughters, Sylvia (David) Lipp of Boardman and Carol (Gregory) Hura of Woodstock, Ga.; six grandchildren, Heather (Matthew), Shannon (Kim), Russell (Alycia), Gregory, Kevin and Samantha; and two great-grandchildren, Byron and Avella.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Judith Gucwa; brother Ted Kostecki; and five sisters, Frances Frazzini, Edna Venorsky, Rose Costa, Eleanor Banasik and Mary Rhodes.
Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Park Center and Hospice of the Valley for the kind and compassionate care shown to Helen.
