Joseph Miladore, grandson

The following tribute was given by her daughter, Dianne, at St. Charles Borromeo Parish on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 12:30 pm during my Nana's Mass of Christian Burial. Dianne Miladore stated: Thank you Father DeLucia At this time, I would like to say a few words about my mother. I am the woman I am today because of my mom. She encouraged me to become an independent woman, and to find the right man with whom I could share my life. She welcomed Mike, my husband, and loved him as a son. We had a lot of good times together. I remember our shopping trips, especially for shoes, size 4½. We would go to Reyers, fill the car trunk with boxes of shoes, and keep them there until my Dad went to work, so he couldn’t see how many we bought. However, we justified our shopping sprees because we could share our shoes, since we wore the same size. She was the prototypical taxi driver, taking me to baton, piano, and dance lessons. But, homework always came first. I lived at home during my college years, and my mom cooked for me and did my laundry, so that I would have enough time to study. Not only did she continue to cook and do my laundry when I was in medical school, but she drove to Kent to clean my apartment. Whatever I may have accomplished can be attributed to my mom. To summarize, my mom was there for me whenever I needed her as I was growing up, when Mike and I were engaged and wed, at the birth of our three sons. Subsequently, she often cooked for us, and made the boys their favorite treat, fried Italian donuts with powdered sugar. My mom was an extraordinary woman, who was first and foremost a wife and mother. She was also President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Ohio Dental Association, a landlord who oversaw the operation of 48 apartment units, a referee at home, an impeccable dresser, a wonderful dancer, and a world traveler. Although there was a period of time when the situation was difficult for us, my mother was always in our thoughts, and always loved by my family. The world is a little less good now that she is no longer in it.
