Obituary for Joseph Angelo Vettori

Joseph Angelo Vettori
Joseph Angelo Vettori, 83
BOARDMAN – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015, at St. Christine Church in Youngstown, for Joseph Angelo Vettori, 83, who passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015.
Joseph was born Dec. 17, 1931, in Youngstown, the second son of Angelo and Maria (Scarper) Vettori.
“Joe” was a 1950 graduate of Chaney High School and worked for 31 years for the U.S. Steel Corporation in various capacities from the open hearth, sonic testing, and finishing his USS career in the Metallurgical department. He was a member of Steelworkers Local 1330. After retiring from U.S. Steel, he was employed at the Mahoning National Bank and was also a licensed real estate agent for the State of Ohio. Joe also served as a file clerk at his daughter’s law office and was frequently seen filing papers in Columbiana, Trumbull and Mahoning County on a regular basis.
Joe married Mary Ann Leskovyansky on Oct. 24, 1964. Mary Ann preceded Joe in passing on Feb. 9, 1990. His brother, Frank J. Vettori, and parents also predeceased him.
He leaves his daughter, Mahoning County Court Judge Diane Vettori (Ismael Carabello Jr.); his brother-in-law, Anthony Leskovyansky; sister-in-law Ms. Millie Leskovyansky; and a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Joe was an avid sports and history buff and had a tremendous knowledge of trivia in all areas, but especially sports, politics and history. He valued education, above all. He would always be up for a debate of current world events, politics, sports, or any classic movies or shows.
Friends may call on Monday, May 4, at St. Christine Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Spratt and his staff; all of the care providers at Shepherd of the Valley, who truly became friends with Joe; the “Westchester Gang,” Bailey and all of Joe’s “texting buddies,” Trudy, Louie, and especially, David, who kept in contact with him on a daily basis.
