Faye C. (Congemi) Burnich, 88
YOUNGSTOWN ¬ There will be a funeral service at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a
10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Angela Merici Church (formerly Sacred Heart Church), 400 Lincoln Park Drive in Youngstown, with the Rev. Kevin Peters celebrating, the Mass for Faye C. (Congemi) Burnich, 88, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Fannie “Faye” was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Youngstown, the daughter of Michael and Petrina (DiMaggio) Congemi. Faye attended East High School. She worked for many years as a server at Courtney¹s Restaurant until they closed in 1982. She also worked for a brief period at “On the Way” Lounge and various other restaurants. She most recently worked as a housekeeper for many individuals. Faye, lovingly referred as Mom, Gram, and GiGi, was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved cooking and making sure everyone was always “well fed.” She also enjoyed playing cards at the holidays with her family and listening to polka music on Sunday mornings. Her husband, Stephen Burnich, whom she married at the Holy Trinity Church on July 24, 1948, passed away July 1961. Faye will always be remembered lovingly by her two sons, Stephen (Loretta) Burnich of Austintown, and John (Cheryl) Burnich of Austintown; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Stan) Watson of Rocky River, Stephen (Amanda) Burnich of Columbus, John Burnich of Pittsburgh, and Joseph (Brittany) Burnich of Youngstown; four great-grandchildren, Addison and Ross Watson, and Evelyn and Greta Burnich; brother Charles "Lardy" (Rita) Congemi; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother, Carl Congemi and sister Nellie Boak. Friends may call on Sunday, Nov. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. The Burnich family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the nurses on 8 South at St. Elizabeth Hospital Main Campus and also to the entire staff at Briarfield at Ashley Circle for the kind and compassionate care shown to Faye.
