Boardman – There will be funeral services at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the Good Shepherd, Sta. Rosa de Lima Church, 394 Tenney Avenue in Campbell for Bernarda Caban Soto, 87, who passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Bernarda was born May 28, 1928 in Lares, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Francisco Borges and Bibiana Perez. She was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd, Sta. Rosa de Lima Church. Bernarda was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family. She loved to sew and cook, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband, Juan Soto whom she married July 19, 1946, passed away May 17, 1988. Bernarda will forever be remembered lovingly by her 8 children, Mariano Caban, Julia (Peter) Ries, Radame Caban, Gloria (Jose) Caban, Blythe (Marianne) Caban, Carmen (Salvatore) Traficant, Margarita Caban, and Sara (Eddie) Vargas; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. Besides her parents and husband, Bernarda was preceded in death by three sisters, Julia, Maria and Isabelle; and brother, Alfonso. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 28 at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Avenue in Boardman. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Omni Manor Assisted Living and Nursing Home, especially the nurses, aides and kitchen staff, and to Hospice of the Valley for the kind and compassionate care shown to Bernarda.
