John Evans, 88
YOUNGSTOWN - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Boardman, for John Evans, 88, who passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born Aug. 4, 1927, in Youngstown, the son of John Evans and Catherine (Ferencak) Evans Wyosky. John was raised by his mom and stepfather Stephen Wyosky.
He courageously served his country in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He then worked as a mason labor foreman at Republic Steel from 1944 until his retirement in 1983. John was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, V.F.W. Post 3307 in Youngstown, and St. George Croatian Center in Youngstown.
John will always be lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet Motto Petrosky Evans, whom he married on Jan. 18, 1992; three children, Deborah (John) Fox of Vienna, John (Darla) Evans of Hubbard, and Peggy (Ralph) Stellato of Boardman; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa (Rudolph) Bradick of Meadville, Pa., and Rosemarie Elias of New Castle, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his former wife, Helen Kovachik; daughter Elizabeth Evans; sister Clara Toto; and brother Thomas Evans.
Friends may call at St. Charles Borromeo Church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass on Thursday.
