Donald L. Kurian, 79
CANFIELD - Donald L. Kurian, 79, passed peacefully, with his family by his side on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016. He fought a battle with Parkinson's disease.
Donald was born Oct. 2, 1936, in Youngstown, the son of Michael and Helen (Grisa) Kurian.
“Don” served his country in the U.S. Air Force, both stateside and abroad. He worked several jobs to support and care for his family, having retired from Trusco Inc. in 2006. Donald was a fun-loving, happy gentleman who lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing handball at the YMCA for many years. His hobbies included golf, fishing and playing cards with friends and family.
United in marriage to Jeri (Guerrieri) on Sept. 16, 1961, they shared 55 years together.
He cherished his family and leaves behind his children, son Donald Kurian of Canfield and daughter Nicolette K. Grohovsky of Powell; his beautiful grandchildren, Taylor Lee (Aaron) Hair, Brittany Anne (John) Schuler, Michael Kurian, and Angelina Grohovsky; as well as three great-grandchildren, Brinley Paige and Brady James Hair, and Finley Lane Schuler.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale of Cornersburg for the love and care extended to Don over the past year, especially throughout his final days. In addition, the family also extends their gratitude to Hospice of the Valley for the services and support they provided.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
There will be funeral services at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Christine Church. He will be placed to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
