Obituary for James L. "Jim" DePizzo

James L. "Jim"  DePizzo
COLUMBIANA – There will be a funeral service at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Basilica in Youngstown with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr., celebrating the Mass for James “Jim” L. DePizzo, 69, who passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Nov. 16, 1947, in Youngstown, the son of John and Victoria (Fusco) DePizzo.
He was a 1965 graduate of Ursuline High School.
Jim courageously served his country as a drill sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He then worked for 39 years as an agent for Allstate Insurance. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Basilica.
He enjoyed trips to Italy with his wife, brother Jack and Nuggie. He and his wife took many trips in their motor home to Florida and weekend trips to Geneva-on-the-Lake.
Jim was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, loyal brother and friend to many. He will be remembered by his devotion to his family.
Jim will always be remembered lovingly by his mother of Girard; his wife, the former Mary Ann Marquette, whom he married on Sept. 16, 1967; two sons, James (Jeanni) DePizzo of Girard, and Vincent (Michelle) DePizzo of Canfield; three grandchildren, James Jr., Dominic, and Dean; two brothers, John “Jack” (Nuggie) DePizzo of Canfield, and Jerry DePizzo of Poland; and sister Joy (Jim) Timko of Poland.
He was preceded in death by his father and infant daughter, Deana Marie.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown and Boardman and Vista Care Center of Boardman for their excellent care of Jim.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
